Occupation: Civil Servant
Martial status: Married
Age: 50
Where you live: Cornwall
Date of New You Boot Camp attended: 16th October 2009
What was it that made you book on to the boot camp?
I had committed to undertake a trek to Everest Basecamp and Island Peak and wanted to guage my fitness, lose weight and learn more about nutrition.
Your Experience At New You Boot Camp:
New You Boot Camp was as hard as I expected. The training was tough but fair and I was amazed how much you could do on the “right type” of foods. Being part of a team during training and being challenged and pushed by the PTI’s certainly helped me push harder and achieve more than I ever would do if I trained on my own. I also never realised how little I knew about nutrition and healthy eating – that was a real eye-opener.
How has New You Boot Camp changed your life?
9 months on I’m fitter and healthier than I’ve been for over 15 years. I enjoy being slim again and it means I can hold my own when playing 5-a-side against guys 20 years my junior. I know what to eat and when and as a result it has kick-started my metabolism. I still enjoy the occasional take away and a beer but also know how to keep that balance right.
Have you set your self any targets any challenges?
Later this year I’m planning to complete the Sutherland trail in Scotland and the three peaks challenge.
What would you say to anyone thinking of booking on?
Do it – you’ve got everything to gain and nothing to lose (well only excess weight!). IÂ think of the cost as an investment in me and my long-term health was a price worth paying.*
