Date of New You Boot Camp attended:
It was may 2008 back to basics bootcamp (really hot week) think it was about the 2nd week,we are featured on the back to basics pics on your website on the bikes and laying down on top on the brecon beacons with Sue Jones (Liverpool footballers wife).
After having my son Jack in November 2007, I was carrying some baby weight and felt awful. My wedding was in July 2008 and so set out to loose the stone I needed to feel at my best. I started running and biking, low carb diets and walked for miles loosing a few pounds but still a way to go.
Then after reading an artical by Jade Goody in Now (I think) she had been to New You Boot Camp and lost over a stone. I googled New You Boot Camp one day and came across the website and convinced my then fiancee to pay for me to go so I could book quickly as not long till the wedding… (after all I had endured 6 hours of labour with NO pain relief to have our son lol.) Layed it on a bit thick… but he knew I was desperate to look and feel my best for my pending wedding.
So he agreed to help me out.I booked it the following day and Paul arranged to work from home to look after Jack for the week I was away.
Your Experience at Boot Camp:
I was looking forward to some hard and intensive work outs but was concerned my fitness levels would not be up to scratch. I knew I was healthy and had exercised for a few weeks but was nervous about being un fit and looking really daft.
Of course my nerves were gently calmed when we met the military PTI’S for the first time in the car park pick up point… What rubbish! they were hardcore from the off set and I was quite literally quaking in my boots. They mean’t business and I was tempted to do a runner (into the pub for a quick vodka). But no, I was there for one reason only… to get fit and look fab.
It was actually one of the most emotionally challenging weeks of my life. On the first day they warned us we would have an emotional rollercoaster and by day 3 it should have peaked. They were not wrong people were detoxing and it was hitting them hard but after that. It was amazing,
We could see daily changes in everyone. Not just weight loss,I mean bums were definitely shrinking and thighs were toning, but most importantly we all felt an inner cleanse emotionally and physically. Everyones skin had brightened and there were smiles every where. The group had come out the other side and were shining.
It was hard work though no fun and games,9 hour days. Awake at 5am,10 mins to get ready, then out in line on time or you were punished (push ups etc.) we were a compliant group though and did as we were told. Intensive training days from circuits, biking hiking, running river gauging, abseiling to hard core military assult courses. Amazing things that ordinary people are not able to do in every day life, who honestly gets the time to walk across the beautiful brecon beaons for 8 hours in a day and see the beautiful scenery and breathtaking views over the amazing terraine.
It was worth every penny and the results showed. It is serious “investment in you time” and quite life changing actually.
How has it changed your life:
It helped me wear the dress of my dreams on my wedding day and be a confident bride. In fact I felt the best I had ever felt.
I was toned and could easily fit into my size 8 target jeans. I carried on with my healthy eating and exercised three times a week and maintained my figure up untill falling pregnant in April 2010 with my daughter.
I know now that there is always a way to feel great again, even if you think your body will never be the same after a baby.
I am booked in for the August back to basics 2011 and cant wait to do it all again.
What would you say to anyone thinking of booking on?
It’s not for the faint hearted. Its tough and its hard work, but who ever said that your dream body was easy to achieve.
The best thing I have ever done… truly… what ever your age, size, or reasons we all have an inner diva and New You Boot Camp helps you find her.
Thank you very much.*
