New You Boot Camp, Hereford
The camp: Set in the village of Brinsop, near Hereford, the New You Boot Camp is for those who are serious about making a permanent healthy lifestyle change. The trainers make good use of the surrounding countryside, basing many of the classes outside and adding hiking to the schedule. This one is not for the faint-heartened though. You’ll be doing between 10-12 hours of intense exercise each day but the trainers get results – on average, boot campers walk away 9lb lighter than when you started.
The drills: This is a challenging week of fitness but the New You trainers cater for all fitness levels, so there’s no need to feel intimidated. They focus equally on strength, cardio and conditioning, with classes such as boxing, HIIT, TABATA, military circuits, core stability and weight training. The intense workouts are balanced out with flexibility exercises and low impact hikes throughout the week.
The food: New You has a huge range of its own recipes designed to fuel your energy levels after a long day of exercise. Breakfast options include Boot Camp Blueberry Banana Overnight Oats and Boot Camp Eggwhite Puffs, while tuna and broccoli patties and courgette ravioli are just a few of the mains available. Healthy smoothies and snacks are also offered, and if you want to recreate the dishes at home, the chefs will give you a cooking demonstration. Participants can also attend workshops specialising in weight loss and fitness.
The bill: A seven day boot camp starts from £695, including food, training and accommodation.
