SETTING THE STORY
I had reached a point in my life where I had no energy, no willpower and no mitivation to exercise or healthy eating. I needed a kick start wgen it came to fitness and I felt like getting away for a break. When I stumbled across the New You Boot Camp website, it sounded just like the thing I was looking for. Something inside me felt like it was now or never so I just went for it! I had no idea what to expect, except that it was going to be tough. Tough was an understatement, but what I didn’t expect was to have fun!
SCARED BUT EXCITED
When we first pulled up to the venue, I was instantly wowed by the amazing views of the Brecon Beacons such a vast difference from London, and even though it was a boot camp, it was actually nice to get away from it all. On arrival every one seemed apprehensive about what was in store, but we all seemed to settle in really quickly and everyone was super friendly. We were met by the New You Boot Camp Team who ran through the week activities, who made it clear they were going to push us to our limits and show us what our bodies were capable of doing.
DAY BY DAY
Most days we were up by 6am and straight out to do our first exercise session before breakfast. This was always a particularly tought session. If anyone was late for the morning line up, we were all made to go inside to do corrective training squats or press-ups! I was amazed when I realised that we were doing up to 9 hours of exercise per day. I never, ever thought I would be capable of that. The New You Boot Camp staff were really motivating and helped me achieve more every sessoin. By day three I could already notice the difference of my body shape.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
At NYBC I learnt so much about my diet- Mary-Lou showed me that making small changes can actually make a big difference. Despite my initial shock at the portion sizes- the food was really amazing. I discovered that eating healthy food does not have to be boring, and I took away some great ideas.
During the week I did struggle with no t coming first, but the NYBC staff reminded us not to try and keep up with the person infront of you, just to focus on yourself and do the best you possibley can. I was never up at the front with some of the fitter women, however I cam second amongst the girls for loosing the most weight: 9 lbs and 9 1/2 inches! The results made me realise that you don’t have to be the best at everything, as long as you put the effort in, you get the results you want.*
LIFE AFTER BOOT CAMP..
Overall, the fitness packed week away was a real challenge for me, but with every ones encouragement, I made it. Since NYBC I have joined my local fitness club and go 3 times a week, including boxfit (something I enjoyed at Boot Camp).
I took part in the JP Morgan run last Summer, and I am running a 10 k race to help raise money for Cancer Research.
NYBC is one of the best but hardest things I have ever done. Not only did I take on board every thing I learned about fitness, weight loss and nutrition, I also took away every thin gI learned about myself! Plus, I will never forget all the memories, laughter and great friendships that I made. My advice to any one thinking about going on a boot camp is book it now!
