She slimmed on Celebrity Fit Club, but it took a more drastic boot camp to get Sharon Marshall back to her sexiest shape.
When Sharon Marshall put on weight, at least she had fun doing it. Two years after losing weight on ITV’s Celebrity Fit Club, This Morning’s soaps reporter began piling on the pounds again after she partied over Christmas.
It’s Sharon’s girl-about-town lifestyle that’s to blame for the expanse of her pants. ‘I used to be a size 8 when I was a dancer, training for hours every day,’ Sharon explained. ‘But then I became a journalist going out to showbiz parties every night until four in the morning.’
‘Unless your Gillian Mckeith and have a handy lettuce leaf in your handbag, your surviving on fattening canapes – and drinking two bottles of wine a night wasn’t unusual either.’
‘Then I got the job on This Morning and found myself on TV- a big fat lump. One critic said I looked like Shrek’s wife, which I thought really funny. I used to sign of the show as Princess Fiona.’
Halfway back to her pre-Fit Club weight, Sharon took drastic action and booked into a boot camp for some serious exercise and dietary discipline. Amazingly, she lost almost a stone in one week, getting up at 5:30am and exercising harder than she ever partied.
‘It was much harder than Fit Club, with a lot of sweating, shouting and running up mountains- but it was worth it,@ says Sharon. ‘ At the end of the week I’d lost 13 pounds and every woman on that course glowed.
‘On the last night a lot of them went out to get a man. Not that you have to lose weight to succeed in that department,’ she emphasises.’But if you wake up feeling good in your knickers, you have a spring in your step.
‘It took 3 months of laziness to put the weight on, so I was impressed that I lost it so quickly. Every girl has their pulling weight and now I’m back to mine!’
Single Sharon, who describes herself as ‘the patron saint of shag-less women’, admits she lacked confidence when she was bigger and now its come back.
‘Losing the weight feels great and it makes pulling so much easier, although I’m also wearing shorter skirts and tighter jackets because I’m slimmer,’ she admits.
‘There’s no doubt that I get a lot more attention now but I’m in no rush- I do want someone fabulous. But when it happens it won’t be down to the size of my thighs!’*
