A study by the ‘Mirror’ is claiming that an ‘average woman’s waist has increased by seven inches since the 1950s ‘from a toned 27 to a solid 34’.
With increased danger of health problems, and of course the importance of looking tight and toned on the beach…We at New You Boot Camp know it is possible for everyone to slim down to the healthy, ideal size that they dream of being. If following in Jessica Alba’s footsteps and wearing an elasticated corset for two months to reduce waist measurements is not the one for you, then I suggest you concentrate on a few tips provided by our wonderful nutritionist Mary-Lou Harris on how to pro-actively achieve a slimmer waist.
– Avoid high sugar foods and go easy on beans, potatoes, sprouts, lentils, broccoli, bananas and raisins, which can all make bloating worse. Imagine yeast ‘rising’ in your gut, by cutting such foods out you limit bloating.
-Push yourself towards berries, kiwi fruit, plums and other low-sugar fruits. Fruits such as these are best for your waist-line.
-Eat more eggs and pumpkin seeds to support your stress levels as they have calming properties. Referring back to our last blog post on Endocrine health, reducing stress levels has a great effect on dropping those pounds.
-Take a daily probiotic to give your digestive system a helping hand. A healthy digestive system really shows on the outside.
– Cut out food known to bloat such as white refined carbohydrates (bread, pasta, rice, biscuits, cakes, crisps, potatoes).
– Replace sunflower and refined vegetable cooking oils & margarines and replace them with coconut, olive or walnut oils or butter. A simple step, but makes all the difference.
-To all you caffeine fiends out there, reduce your levels of caffeine to no more than 1 caffeine-based drink per day. Simply replace them with herbal teas and quality filtered water (1-2 litres/ day), your body soon enough will not miss your caffeine buzz.
– Eat 5 to 15 portions (Mary-Lou suggests a palm full sized portion) of FRESH (preferably ORGANIC) vegetables DAILY. It is really a joy to eat vegetables, so when your down at the supermarket make sure you are stocking your trolley with vegetables for snacks.
Above is just a FEW of our favourite Mary-Lou tips, but have a read through for yourself and see what inspires you at: http://www.wholistichealthplanning.com/#/healthy-foodcooking/4533927571
